Anniversary, Part 1 - The Unfortunate Event

Gabe went home the weekend right after graduation, but Alycia, Preston, Carter, and even Bentley the dog got to stay here for two whole weeks! Alycia and Becky and everyone wanted to go to the zoo with the little boys, so Carlton and Becky both asked for the day off from work. Since it was our 3rd anniversary, Tyler took the day off, too, and we all had a fun day at the zoo. This, however, is not the "unfortunate event" I mentioned above. More on the zoo later...

On the way to meet everyone to carpool to the zoo, we were going to drop our car off to have the tires rotated. Kyle gave us a free tire rotation coupon a long time ago, so we figured we'd finally use it. We also noticed that two of our tires had a little bald strip, so Tyler's parents gave us two almost-new ones to replace them with. Anyway, we were literally 15 minutes away from dropping our car off--for the express purpose of fixing the tires--when all of a sudden one of those bald tires blew out, right in the middle of the interstate. Talk about stressful! Luckily not even one minute after I pulled over, a very nice policeman came to our rescue. Here he is with Tyler changing the tire--which was totally shredded--while Ashton and I watched from the back seat. (The policeman thought Ashton was a girl. Hmm...)

Well, no big deal, within five minutes the tire was changed and we were pulling back onto the freeway. But then it started making the same loud noise... We were right next to the exit, so I pulled off and parked in some random collection of office buildings. Turns out our spare tire was totally flat. We were driving on the rim and there wasn't even one breath of air in that thing. So we were stressing about where to find a gas station and how to get the tire there, because of course this happened on the one exit where there are NO gas stations. Tyler went into the nearest office building to ask where we should go, but instead of finding a bunch of accountants or insurance salesmen, he found a little workshop where mechanics were customizing very expensive and fancy cars. How weird is that!? Out of all the unmarked, random office buildings on this street, we had pulled up to the one that just so happens to be a secret car place. A man came out, filled up the tire, and we were safely on our way again. Thank Heaven!!! That was definitely the luckiest thing ever!
