Chew It

Ashton started chewing on anything and everything a while back. We went and bought him a bunch of teething rings to bite and play with. And which one is his favorite, you ask? Daddy. (*sigh*)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hooray, I'm back to blogging! I took a little break while we stayed at the Hinton home in Lehi over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was really fun. I didn't take very many pictures, but luckily Alycia was there with her great new camera, and she said she'll send us the ones she took! Hooray! So as soon as I get them I'll post them, but for now, I'll give you the brief highlights of our holiday...

One of the things we were most looking forward to was seeing Gabe and Alycia and their boys, Preston and Carter. Since Ashton and Carter are nine days apart, it was fun to get them together and watch them play. Carter is a bit taller than Ashton, but other than that, they could be twins (almost)!

They loved rolling around on the floor together.

And, as you can see, Ashton also loved trying to eat various parts of Carter's body.

I think they really had fun! They even took a nap together in the stroller when we went shopping at the mall.

They were so sweet. Another fun thing was that Ashton got to witness the building of his first ever gingerbread house! From scratch! He was in awe the whole time.

And, of course, since we had the incredible photographic talents of Alycia here, we got all dressed up and took family pictures. I just have one that she emailed me, so here's a preview to tease your interest until I get the rest.

It was so much fun to be all together, talking and playing and going places. (Maybe Gabe should get a job in Utah...???) And the whole week, the babies were such good boys. Ashton just smiled and played and decided he loves grandma's house!

Thanks for a fun holiday! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm so glad when Daddy comes home!

Enough said.

What do you get...

...when you cross a baby's head and a diaper?

George Washington!

Ha ha ha... :)

Mommy's Lesson

I guess I learned the hard way not to let baby play with the highlighter!

I don't understand how it got all over him. The lid was on the whole time!

Oh well. Won't be making that mistake again!

Lessons in Sitting

Hey, I can do this. This is easy! A no-brainer.

Hmm, what's that over there...?

Oh dear...

How did I end up back here?!

Five Months Old!!!

I can not believe another month has gone by! But, alas, it has. Ashton is now five months old! He's growing into such a sweet little boy. I hope you enjoy the pictures from our five-month-old photo shoot!

"Oh geez, I can't believe she wants to take more pictures!"

"That's it, I'm hiding!"

When he's at his most angellic...asleep! :)

Yummy!

Lately Ashton has been enjoying his bottles a lot more than usual. He lays there in a drunken stupor, drinking his bottle and making endless "yummy noises." Hear it for yourself... (P.S. The videos are so dark because both times I caught him, we were watching a movie, so the lights weren't all on.)

It cracks me up! I even caught him making yummy noises while chewing on his teething ring one night. I could not stop laughing.

Well, whatever helps you enjoy your meal. :)

Splish-Splash, I was takin' a bath...

Ashton used to hate baths. He would scream and scream and we'd have to go as fast as humanly possible, barely getting him clean at all. For a long time, we resorted to putting him in the shower with me, because then he'd at least stay calm. But finally, he's learning to enjoy baths! I think it's that he's getting better at sitting up, so now he's not afraid I'm drowning him.

Anyway, just a week or two ago, Ashton learned how to splash. I think the first time he did it, it was an accident, because he looked so surprised, like "What just happened?" But then he realized he could do it anytime he wanted, and...well let's just say that after every bath I give him now, I'm completely soaked, too! I filmed it for posterity's sake, so enjoy! (And yes, we always have musical bath times...)

Little Blue Eyes

We always figured that Ashton would get super blue eyes, since Tyler's are so blue and since mine are blue/green/whatever. But now his eyes are really starting to get colorful! He was wearing this bright blue onesie the other day, and it was making his eyes so bright, so I just had to take pictures. They're kind of close up to his face (because I was trying to get his eyes as big as possible), so it makes him look a little wierd! But those eyes are sure getting pretty...

Of course the one picture he really smiles in has to be blurry...what a monkey...

I wonder...

Have you ever wondered what babies think about? I do, all the time. Whenever Ashton is eating his bottle (and sometimes when he's just sitting there) he gets this far-away look in his eyes, like he's daydreaming about something very interesting.

I guess we'll never know...

The Laugh Hunter

Ashton has been laughing for a while now, but he has decided that he is not ticklish and will only laugh when HE finds something funny--NOT on demand, whenever we want him to. Well! This has made baby's laugh very hard to catch on video, but lately I've had a little luck. Here are two different times I actually caught it while my phone was out! The first was when I was playing with him. He thought it was so funny until I turned the camera on, of course. He wouldn't laugh at first, but if you watch the whole thing, you'll hear it towards the end...

The second time I caught it, I was laying next to him and making faces and he found it hysterical! It's a short clip, but the squealy laugh is in there!

First Snowfall

As soon as we returned from sunny, warm Arizona, we were welcomed (of course) by the freezing weather of home. We woke up a few days after the trip to find that for the first time this year it was snowing!!! Since this was his first snowfall, Ashton and I absolutely had to check it out, so we wrapped up in a blanket and watched from our doorway.

You can't tell in the pictures, but it's really coming down. Ashton really liked sitting there watching it fall. I was freezing, though, so we went inside after a minute or too. But if it was up to him, we'd stay there all day!

I can't wait until it actually sticks, so that he can go out and really experience it!
