Baby Bedhead

Ashton's hair is getting long, which means he wakes up with some pretty crazy bedhead. Here's just one example:
You may be saying that it's time for the first haircut, but I can't bear to cut it off! It's just too cute to me!

Beware...

Ashton came up and gave me a kiss on he knee. I said, "Thank you for the kiss!" And then he promptly went back and bit me in the same spot!
What, did he think I was gonna say "Thank you for the bite," too?! I don't think so! At least he kissed it better when I told him it hurt...

Walking!!!

At 10 1/2 months old, Ashton started to take his first steps! Another month later he really got brave and started taking more than just two or three at a time.

This is Ashton running alongside our jetted tub (that's right--I said jetted tub!) while we were doing our final check on our new house. And below are some videos I caught of him walking all over. And of course falling all over, too. :) Some of them are dark--I blame the phone, sorry!

Way to go baby!

Like Mother, Like Son

Ashton and I have the same feet! No matter how many people say he looks just like his dad, those little sausage toes are mine! Well, either that or my feet just look like baby feet. Haha! That beautifully tan skin, though, sure isn't me...

11 Months Old!!!

Eleven months old already! Almost to one year, but not quite! Enjoy the pictures I tried to take...the toys were a major distraction. *sigh* But he wouldn't sit still without them, so what was I supposed to do???

I get this look all the time when I catch him doing something he's not supposed to--like chewing on his shoes...

Too bad he saved all the best smiles for when we went back inside. I forgot my exposure was still set too low. Grr! So all the pictures turned out kind of yucky.

All except this one, that is. :)

Only one more month until the big day!!!

Singing and Waving

Two more things Ashton has learned that I haven't been able to catch on video until now! Here he is singing along to the Beach Boys' "Ba-ba-ran." (Which shows my stupidity, because until I just googled it, I didn't know it was actually called "Barbara Ann"--I really always thought it was Ba-ba-ran!!!) He stopped doing it whenever I got the phone out to video it, so these are the best I could get...

He also learned how to wave hello. He does it whenever we say "hi." We're trying to teach him that it means the same for "bye," too, but he doesn't quite get it yet. :)

I like how he slaps me a high five at the end of this one. Too funny!

I Heart BJ

For my Mother's Day gift, Tyler got us tickets to see Melissa Peterman at a comedy club in Ogden. I was SO excited, to say the least. I love love love her! For those who don't know the joy that is "Reba" (the show, not the person), I shall explain. The Reba show is the best thing ever! And Melissa Peterman plays Barbara Jean (aka BJ) on the Reba show. She is so so so so so funny, it is unbelievable. Katie (my fellow Reba obsessee) and I used to always watch this show, late into the night, when I got home from my mission, and we would say that she is Reba (because she's short and cute and sings well) and I'm Barbara Jean (because I'm tall and huge and crazy). So it was this weird inside joke we had. Now you understand why I seriously heart BJ/Melissa Peterman.

So anyway, she did a stand-up comedy tour and one of her stops was Ogden. And it was AWESOME! She was so funny I had tears streaming down my face! I seriously could not breathe. Tyler and I were sitting in the front row so she even came over to us during the show and was making jokes about us. She saw we were holding hands and said that we definitely couldn't be serious if we were still holding hands, but I told her we were married for three years and she freaked out...it was funnier when she did it, because I can't remember exactly what she said now. Sad day. Anyway, when she first came out, she was doing this crazy dance, and so I got out my phone to video it. When she saw I was video-ing she ran over and jumped on our table and practically danced on my face. My phone stopped after she jumped on our table, but here's the video--you can see her run over and jump on me at least.

The whole thing was just super funny and I was so glad that Tyler thought to get me the tickets for Mother's Day. What a great husband he is! After the show was over she came out to the sidewalk and was signing autographs and taking pictures. Of course we brought the first season of "Reba" on DVD for her to sign. And here is the lovely picture we took.

I also felt really bad that Katie hadn't known about it--and even if she had, it's so far away from her that she probably wouldn't have been able to come anyway. So I asked Melissa Peterman to just say, "Hi Katie Brown," really quick...but she just went off and off and it was too funny. I wish I could have seen the look on Katie's face when she got that video. She probably about died!

And yes, I know that Katie's last name is Cook and not Brown anymore, but I was a little starstruck and stupid at the time, so you'll have to forgive me. :) What a fun day. Thank you Tyler!!!!!

Elmo

Long before Ashton was born, when we were newly married, Tyler found a soft Elmo puppet book for $3. He insisted that we buy it. I thought he was crazy. Apparently I was wrong.

Ashton loves when Daddy reads his Elmo book. And Daddy does a pretty good Elmo voice, too. I'd say it was $3 well spent.

High in the sky!

You may have noticed in the Mother's Day pictures that Ashton has his hands over his head a lot. That's because every time we say, "High in the sky!" he raises them way up high. It's too cute.

Bananas

Ashton has had a hard time learning how to chew and how to feed himself. The only thing he would do on his own was a baby rice or corn cracker until one day I gave him a banana...

It was a hit!!!

Hooray for finger foods!

Mother's Day!

My first Mother's Day as an actual mother. It was very nice, even if Ashton had no idea that he was supposed to be celebrating me. We went to church in the morning, and I recieved a beautiful pink rose.

Then it was off to Grandma and Grandpa Hinton's house so that we could talk to Royce for the last time from Argentina. It was good to hear from him, and we were happy to think that the next time we talked to him would be in person.

After our turn on the phone was over, we went and played outside on the porch.

Becky's mom and sister came over to say hello. I feel kinda bad, because this isn't a very good picture of anyone invovled. Oops. I love that Grandma Hall is sticking her tongue out, though.

Here's Grandma Hall, rocking the sunglasses.

Ashton got to really play on the grass for the first time, too. We didn't have too much of a yard in our townhome, and it hadn't really gotten warm enough until May. He loved it!

Tyler took a picture of Ashton and me together. I don't get enough of these, since I'm always the one behind the camera.

Tyler took this picture, too. I say he did a very nice job!

Father and son. Aww... :)

What a handsome boy we have.

Ashton tasted his first flower.

Apparently he didn't like it so much.

Tyler liked them better, I think. :)

Carlton was kind enough to take a few pictures of all three of us together.

Ashton and Grandpa. I have no idea what they're both saying in this picture, but it's pretty funny. :)

After everyone got to talk to Royce, we all went back to Grandma Becky's house for some yummy dinner and presents. We gave her a little mp3 player so that she has something to listen to at work. I loaded the whole thing with hours and hours of great country music. (What more could you ever want?) Ashton enjoyed helping her open everything.

He also enjoyed making a mess of all the tinker toys. And of course he brought Buddy Love along for it all. :)

Becky gave me a giant cookie for Mother's Day. Yum!

I also got some presents from Tyler and Ashton. I got a CD of Laura Bell Bundy (good stuff!), and tickets to see Melissa Peterman at a comedy club in Ogden, AND a special surprise. All I know is that it's something that's happening within a 100 mile radius of our home in September, and I get a new clue to it and two puzzle pieces every Sunday. If the clues don't help me guess it, then when I get the last two puzzle pieces I can put it together and figure it out. It's so hard! I still have no idea! I'll post the clues up later so that you can try to guess what it is, too.

The only sad thing about today? I didn't get to be with my own mommy. But we did call her and we sent her a video.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom! I love you and miss you! And I appreciate so much more all the things you had to do as my mother now that I am one. (Like you say...double secret payback!)
