Happy Birthday, Tyler!

(So far Tristan and Tyler are the only people in our family whose birthdays are somewhat near each other. I wonder if that will always be the case...)

Tyler had been taking a LOT of days off of work to help with Tristan being born, but on this day he took another day off so we could celebrate his birthday! Yay! We had birthday cake and presents at Grandma Becky's house.

Way in advance, Tyler decided that instead of cake, he wanted homemade cinnamon rolls. (I'm SO glad Becky was willing to take care of that one!) And right before the baby came he decided he wanted a Tangled party. And you better believe I teased him, but it was actually really cute. Becky made the cinnamon rolls into a tower and put Rapunzel on top with a long strand of frosting hair coming down the side.

Becky made way more than four cinnamon rolls, but after making a tower out of four, the whole thing started slowly tipping over. We had to quickly sing and blow out the candles, so unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the birthday boy. Too bad.

That night we had tickets to go see Lea Salonga do a concert at BYU. Tristan was still so little, though, and still just nursing, so Becky came with us. Looking back, I probably should have just stayed with Tristan and let her go to the concert with Tyler, but at the time I felt torn. I really did not want to leave an 11-day-old baby, but I didn't want to send my husband off alone on his birthday, either. So, like I said, Tyler and I brought Tristan and Becky with us. Ashton stayed behind with Bryant and Grandpa Carlton. They were having some fun with the marbles when we left.

We got to BYU a little early, so I fed Tristan and then Becky watched him and wandered through the art exhibits they have in the lobby. We watched the concert, and it was really good. Lea Salonga is a singer who has been in Broadway shows like Miss Saigon and Les Miserables, and she is also the singing voice of Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan in Mulan. She sang songs from all four of those, as well as other fun Broadway and pop songs, and we got to be on the front row. When it was over, I went with Becky to feed Tristan again while Tyler waited in line to get her autograph.

Apparently you weren't allowed to take pictures with her, and you could only have her sign something you had just purchased from them (blah!), so Tyler used his birthday money to buy her new CD. But when it was finally his turn, he told her it was his birthday today and asked if she would please sign his Miss Saigon CD and our Mulan CD, too, and she did! Yay!

Happy Birthday, Tyler!!! We love you!!!
